In 1908 the Stoppani family aquired a plant with a roasting oven for chromite ore at Cogoleto at the Ligurian coast between Genova and Savona (Italy). Several ovens were added during the 1950ies to 70ies. The plant produced a range of chromium chemicals, like sodium dichromate, chromic acid and chromium sulphate, which are for example used for metal finishing and leather tanning.
